Technology

The world of dental technology continues to improve, and Bays Dental Clinic works hard to keep up with the latest technological advances. We strive to make your patient experience as pleasant as possible by offering ways to keep you comfortable while you are with us and getting you back to your busy life as soon as possible.

In addition, our technology offerings can even help keep you informed about your oral health during your appointment. We want you to be part of the treatment plan process, and our use of technology allows you to see what is happening so you can make informed dental decisions.

We offer the following technologies to help improve your experience:

Digital X-Rays

We use a small x-ray sensor to capture images from inside your mouth. Instead of the older radiographic image machines that can subject you to more radiation, we can zoom in and apply different filters to see any potential issues with your teeth. You will be more comfortable, and we will achieve perfect digital copies to create a treatment plan for you. These high-resolution images can easily be stored for further use as well.

CBCT Cone Beam Technology

Cone-beam computed tomography systems, or CBCT, uses a cone-shaped x-ray beam to create three-dimensional images of your mouth. This technology rotates around your head to capture images of your oral and maxillofacial region (your teeth, mouth, jaw and neck.) However, it can also gather images of your ears, nose and throat. This impressive piece of equipment helps our dentists with several different dental treatments.

CEREC Same-Day Restorations

Chairside economical restoration of esthetic ceramics, or CEREC technology, incorporates a camera, a computer and a milling machine in one. Using computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), our dental team can gather images of your damaged tooth and then transfer those images to a computer screen. From there, we can digitally design your dental restoration and wait while it is created. In only a couple of hours, the CEREC machine completes your restoration from start to finish.

Rotary Endodontics

Instead of the traditional tools used to perform root canal therapy, Bays Dental Clinic now utilises a unique electric hand tool that allows us to complete your dental procedure much more quickly and efficiently. Made from nickel titanium for increased flexibility, we can access your tooth much more easily during a root canal. Even if we need to achieve a large curve to perform your root canal, it’s not a problem with rotary endodontics.

Intraoral Cameras

Yet another technological advancement we use comes in the form of an intraoral camera. With its built-in light source, this camera lets you and the dentist see your teeth and gums. Because you can look at the images on a screen, your dentist can better explain what they see and discuss your treatment plan more effectively. The intraoral camera can take videos or capture single images of areas of concern, including gum disease, cavities, chipped teeth or broken restorations.

Digital Impressions

If you have ever had to endure the sticky impression material that allows your dentist to obtain an impression for a dental crown, bridge or veneer, you know it is an unpleasant experience. Thanks to modern technology, those days are gone. We can now take a digital impression of your mouth; it’s quick and much less messy!

TV in Treatment Rooms

To help make your trip to our dental clinic as pleasant as possible, we offer televisions in our treatment rooms. You can kick back and watch your favourite show while we care for your teeth. Many patients appreciate the distraction and say their visit was more pleasant because they could watch television. Our goal is to make you comfortable during every phase of your visit to Bays Dental Clinic.
